Felicity Heal invited Club members to Hyden wood for a summer BBQ on August 13th. The weather was perfect and the venue brilliant with all facilities, including a proper open air brick fireplace, shepherds hut and a compost loo. We relished a wide variety of BBQ fayre cooked on an open fire followed by delicious sweets and wine brought by members on a bring and share basis.
After eating, Felicity led a walk for about an hour, mostly through extensive natural woodland which was at its most rampant summer splendour. She told us of the flora and fauna throughout the seasons and gave the history and management of the woodland.
Returning to base camp we chilled out in comfy chairs with tea and cakes and finally went home very happy and relaxed. For those who missed out, there may be an opportunity for a repeat event next year.
